This ‘grad thesis only’ problem was mentioned at the Summer Conference. This works at UW Oshkosh.
Thesis-only students are not in a registered class so they aren't in the active patron database. This frustrates students when they want to use the library services, so we contacted the Graduate office and explained that we would like to make library interactions smoother for these students. The Graduate office now provides us with an updated list three times a year (following graduations in May, August and December) of ‘thesis-only’ graduate students and we manually make a patron record in a separate patron category, "Grad student thesis." Their record expires in one year, or is extended if they appear on the list again.

When you click on the "Directory Containing Full Text of Articles Below" link on this page, you'll find a new folder called Statistics. That has a sampling of each of the type of statistics we can get out of MetaLib (the data is from October 2007 from UW-River Falls' instance of MetaLib). I also included a Word document that has a brief description of each of the statistics. Enjoy :)

I would especially be interested in the Tabs and the words used to describe each function in Metalib via tabs, preferences between table & brief views. The advanced vs. simple search functionality might be another area - I find the search functionality of selecting 30 records problemmatic, but I don't know if most undergrads do. That might be interesting as well.
