Resource Discovery Trials - Questions for UW Libraries to Answer

Interface Design and Function
1. How can a patron focus or refine a search to retrieve desired results?
For example:
by limiting by format, subject, language, date, peer-reviewed, etc.
by providing a thesaurus-type feature that maps searchers to related terms
2. How can a patron distinguish between varying types of resources in results?
For example:

3. What are the ways the product you are testing allow a searcher to refine a search based on results?

can several or all libraries be searched simultaneously?

how will users determine which campus an item is from and whether or not they have access to it?
10. Describe how digital collection content is displayed.
11. Describe how a patron navigates to an individual item that exists outside the product being tested. Also, describe how a patron navigates back to the resource discovery interface after navigating to an individual item located outside the product being tested.

Coverage
14. Describe the vendor provided content included within the product you are testing.
15. Describe the UW provided content that is included within the product you are testing (UW content ingested into vendor's product).
16. Describe the process of exporting UW data (bib and digital collections data) into the vendor's product.
Local Modifications
17. How are display results weighted? What control do individual libraries have over this process? If applicable, describe the process of adjusting the search/display algorithm.
18. Do libraries have the ability to modify indexing parameters, algorithms, or facets? Describe that process.
19. Do libraries have the ability to modify the interface? Describe that process.
Resource Delivery
20. How would the vendor's product accomplish the request and delivery of physical objects (books, etc.) across the consortium and outside of the consortium?
Integration with Other Products
21. Describe how the vendor’s product is integrated with citation management software, such as Refworks, Endnote, etc.
22. Is circulation status dynamic? How is this accomplished?
