CUWL Distance Library Services Standing Committee
Meeting Minutes: 03/30/2009
Present: Heather Weltin, Leigh Dorsey, Jill Markgraf, Brad Gee, Renee Sikma Wallin, John Burke, Aaron Nichols

DE Library Cards: A discussion on distance education student ID cards and library access took place. Various issues were brought up. The group decided that more research is necessary before a plan can be formed: · Jill will draft a statement that addresses specific access issues distance education students might face when visiting other UW campuses. The committee will examine and try to address the issues that are identified. · Leigh and Heather will survey the committee to find out how each campus gives library access to community borrowers. · The group decided that each committee member should check with his/her respective campus to find out what the policy is for issuing ID cards to distance students.

User Services & Summer Conference: ·
  • User Services Conference Call: For the May 22 User Services Conference Call, Mary Boulanger will discuss using library guide us at different campuses. ·
  • CUWL Summer Conference: The committee decided to hold a formal meeting at the CUWL Summer Conference in June. Heather will schedule the meeting.

New Co-chairs: Renee & Jill will take over as new co-chairs of the committee beginning with the May 18 meeting. Heather and Leigh will help them transition into this new role.

Minutes: Please send minute drafts within a week of meeting. The minute-taker will be responsible for posting minutes to the CUWL Wiki.
