LTCC Efficiencies SurveyThis is a featured page

Last Fall the UW-System Library Technology Coordinating Committee (LTCC) surveyed various library directors and managers across the System to elicit feedback on the desirability of centralizing or otherwise sharing select functions among the UW System Libraries. The Survey revealed maintenance challenges and a strong interest in finding collaborative support solutions in three specific areas: Metalib/Xerxes, SFX, and Voyager Customization. Based on this feedback LTCC will undertake an assessment of current support structures and communications mechanisms in these areas. In order to gather the requisite data for this analysis, support communities will be engaged in an effort to identify common functional areas, practices and support needs. Potential support, training, assessment and communications solutions will be vetted.
The survey, and theprecedingsnapshot of several campus' SFX titles, also indicated that more cooperation and coordination was desirable for licensing of e-resources, though with significant variety of opinion. LTCC strongly recommends further study of a more unified and coordinated purchasing/licensing authority for UW campuses.
