DICC QuestionsThis is a featured page

Here we will add questions for the vendor to answer. These questions will be ordered on a hierarchy (Level 1 being the most important, Level 3 the least) to help the RFI project manager prioritize:

Level 1:

* Can your product include thumbnails or icons of digital content in its search results?
* How does your product differentiate types of materials (books, archives, photos, finding aids, etc.) and display search results within each category by facets?
* How can search results be sorted (e.g., by relevance, publication/creation date, author's last name)?
* How can availability of an item for circulation or online access be displayed?
* What are the options for indicating whole/part relationships of an item within search results (e.g., the relationship between a photograph and the digital collection of which it is a part)?
* How is the navigation TO an item within a digital collection and BACK to the search results handled?
* Can your product search the full text of digital items with a full text index? Could this be an on/off option within a search interface? How is full text weighted in relevance ranking as opposed to metadata?
* Does your products harvest local digital collection metadata?

Level 2:

* Can your product interact with a Fedora Commons repository?
* Can mouse-over labels be used for explaining features of the interface?
* What level of granularity of compound digital objects can you retrieve?
* What kind of digital objects can be displayed in full in your product?
* Can your product's search results include information of the size of a digital item (pages in a compound object, length of an audio recording, etc.)?
